Bank of Marin is a sponsor of the Mountain Play, a unique theatrical event that takes place each summer at the Cushing Memorial Amphitheater in the hills near the summit of Mount Tamalpais and fondly referred to as "the mountain theatre." |
The Mountain Play draws audiences from throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Some patrons reach the theatre by hiking or biking up Mount Tam; others enjoy a ride up the mountain in specially chartered yellow buses.

FREE ROUND TRIP BUSES leave continuously from 9:30 am to 12:15 pm from the following locations:
- Commuter parking lot at the junction of Highway 101 and Highway 1 underneath the freeway (Manzanita lot)
- Tamalpais High School on Miller Avenue at Camino Alto
LIMITED PARKING At West Peak on Mt. Tamalpais. There is additional parking at the Old Air Force Base which is one mile past the theatre. There is a $5 charge for Air Force Base parking. From there you will take a shuttle to the theatre entrance.
THE HIKE Following the show, our popular self-guided walk down the mountain is 7 MILES and ends in downtown Mill Valley. Baggage will be collected at the theater and delivered to the Depot Cafe, where you will be met and delivered to your parking lot. Adequate Shoes and Sturdy Legs a Must!
REMEMBER: Bring cushions, sun or fog protection, layered clothing, and picnic lunch (if you're doing your own). Chairs are not permitted inside the theater. The Mountain Play sells and rents stadium chairs at the theatre ($5 rental with $10 deposit or $20 to buy).
DELI PICNIC LUNCHES: If you choose to purchase lunch, Perry's Deli has food and drink available in their concession stand at the theater. To preorder, call (415) 381-0407. Please preorder no later than 3pm on the Friday before the performance you are attending.
