Since opening our doors in 1990, Bank of Marin and our employees have donated millions of dollars, served on hundreds of nonprofit boards/committees and volunteered thousands of hours to support local philanthropic endeavors.
Each year, Bank of Marin donates at least 1% of pre-tax profit to positively impact the communities we serve. We have been named a “Top Corporate Philanthropist in the Bay Area” by the San Francisco Business Times since 2003 and received the Corporate Philanthropy Community Leader award by the North Bay Business Journal from its inception in 2014 until the award program was retired in 2020.
Our annual grant program generally focuses on the following giving priorities across 10 Northern California counties – Alameda, Amador, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Sonoma Counties.

The application window is open from Tuesday, October 10 at 9 a.m. and closes Friday, December 8 at 5 p.m.
We will carefully review each application. Each application will be evaluated based on its merits.
*Our giving policy prohibits contributions to individuals, private foundations, “pass-through” organizations (organizations that re-grant funds), political or lobbying activities, and cause-related marketing.
Please note the following attachments are mandatory components to the grant application process. If attachments are missing, applications will not be eligible for funding. All attachments should be uploaded in PDF format.
- Narrative including the following:
- Organization’s mission statement
- A description of the organization and services and programs offeredPlease include information on the geographic segment of populations served, including total number of organization participants served and percentage of low to moderate income (LMI) individuals served and number of individuals served based on grant request size
- A description of how the funds will be used

- In addition, if you are applying for event sponsorship, please include the following:
- Date of the event, venue location and expected attendance
- Sponsorship print deadline to be included in materials
- An overview of available sponsorship levels and associated benefits
- An overview of tangible benefits including fair market value (FMV) of sponsorship
- A list of all levels of sponsorship for the event in addition to all FMV for each level
- In addition, if you are applying for event sponsorship, please include the following:

- Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3) letter
- Internal Revenue Service Form W-9 (completed)
- Current Board of Directors list and affiliations
- Approved 2023-24 Operating Budget and/or 2022 Internal Revenue Service Form 990
